As strong advocates for sustainable palm oil, we had the pleasure of being guest speakers at a virtual webinar focussed on the topic – hosted by Efeca, expert Consultants in sustainable and legal sourcing of natural resources.

The session attracted almost 100 attendees who were all keen-eared to learn about how palm oil is used in the animal feed sector; how we as a company work towards ensuring traceability and sustainability of the palm oil we use; and the practicalities of how and why we feed fatty acids to ruminants.

It was a hugely successful event that left attendees informed and motivated to look at palm oil in a whole new light.

This success was of course down to our brilliant speakers: Dr Richard Kirkland - Global Technical Manager; Laura Steeden - Product Manager; and Gersen Sumardi - Sustainability Analyst - Wilmar Europe.

Allow us to introduce you…

With an impressive 15 years on the Volac animal nutrition team, Dr Richard Kirkland - Global Technical Manager of Volac Wilmar Feed Ingredients, led an educational talk on the use of fatty acids from palm oil in animal nutrition. He explained just how effectively the Megalac range of feed fats can deliver the fatty acids needed to meet particular nutritional targets on-farm.

Up next…

Holding nearly a decade of sustainable palm oil industry knowledge, Sustainability Analyst, Gersen Sumardi delivered a highly informative speech on traceability and Wilmar NDPE (No-deforestation, No-peat and No-exploitation) implementation. Gersen explained exactly do we monitor NDPE compliance? Allow Gersen to explain...

And last but not least…

Product Manager Laura Steeden, who holds over 20 years of experience within the animal feed sector, is actively involved in the support and promotion of sustainable palm oil within the feed industry. This made her the perfect candidate to lead an insightful talk on the VWFI Sustainable Palm Oil Policy and explain where palm oil appears in our products.
